In Christ, we are raised to life! If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, your next step is to follow Christ’s example and “go public” with your faith through baptism. As your church family, we love to celebrate this special moment with you!
Baptism is a declaration of faith that tells the world and those around you that you now belong to Jesus. It is a way to follow Christ's example and "go public" with your faith. While the act of baptism does not "save" you, it is a way to communicate with the world and those around you that Christ is the Lord of your life - an outward expression of an inward change.
The Bible teaches us that every Believer in Christ should be baptized as a step of obedience in their faith journey. A Believer is someone who has realized that their sin separated them from God and they have given up all efforts to reach God through good works or religious activity. They have concluded that Salvation comes through Christ alone, that Jesus Christ’s death on the cross for their sins is the only thing that can bridge the gap between them and God. A Believer is someone who has decided to trust Christ alone for their salvation and follow Christ. (Acts 2:41; 8:12-13)
Baptism at Christ Church or Orlando is offered multiple times throughout the year. We will announce those dates in our worship services, online and in our weekly bulletins. Once those dates are published you can sign-up for our next Baptism and someone from our team will follow up with next steps.
Get Baptized
We baptize by immersion because that is the how we see it modeled in the Bible. Immersion means the Believer is placed under the water representing their old life of sin is gone and they are lifted up out of the water, resurrected to newness of Life in Christ, to display that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead has given them new life too. (Matthew 3:16, Acts 8:38-39, Romans 6:1-11) *Note- modifications are sometimes made to accommodate people with physical limitations.
While we do not set age requirements, we do believe the person being baptized should be able to articulate their faith in Christ Jesus as Lord and also understand their decision to be baptized. We encourage families with young children to meet with a member of our pastoral team before signing up for baptism.
This will give the family an opportunity to ensure that their child has an understanding of their faith and that they can fully appreciate the importance of their decision to get baptized. Seeing our children and youth take the step of baptism is a primary goal for our family ministry team.
